Day 63: 今年もありがとう／Big thanks 2012

マヤ暦の世界の交代も無事に通過し、また迎える一年の終わり。

去年、インドのバラナシで年を越したのが随分と昔のことのようです。
インドの旅から帰ってきてワーホリを決意してからは、ワーホリを軸に物事を進めてきました。
短期の仕事を重ね、新しい友人ができ、「ワーホリ行く前に飲もうぜ」ラッシュがあり、あちこちに面倒や迷惑をかけて、今日、メルボルンで63日目を迎えています。

袖振り合うも多生の縁と言いますが、何気ない出会いや関わり合いがいつどこでどうつながるか、本当に分からないものです。同様に、縁の糸がどこで切れるものかも。
些細な縁の一つひとつに影響され、考えを変え、または思いを強くし、励まされたり迷ったり打ちのめされたりして、今この瞬間の私があります。

だから、すべての出逢いと出逢いがもたらすたくさんのインスピレーションには感謝しています。

今年出会った新しい友人に、
会えなかった懐かしい友人に、
愚痴って笑った飲み友達に、
集まるだけで楽しい古い友達に、
励まし合った職場の仲間に、
スリルや感動を共有した冒険仲間に、
いつも寄り添ってくれる心友たちに、
お世話になったあなたに、
そして上の全てに当てはまる家族と親戚のみんなに、
一年分の、心からの感謝を捧げます。

今年も、本当にありがとう。


さて、うっかり通常通りのシフトをOKしてしまったので、大晦日の今日もバイトです。
メルボルン名物の年越し花火見物を泣く泣くあきらめて、お客さんやスタッフと一緒にカウントダウンします（多分）。最後の最後まで詰めが甘いというか無頓着すぎるというか。まぁいいや。

Now that we have successfully and safely passed the transition of the Mayan 5,125-year-long calendars, we can celebrate our usual transition of one-year-long calendars.

I was celebrating the coming of the new year in Varanasi, India, last year. It feels awfully far away now, but this trip to India eventually led me to decide making Working Holiday.
And here I am.

Throughout the year, I met new people, made new friends, tried new (but short) jobs, and reunited with my good old friends, always having my leaving for Australia in mind. This Working Holiday plan had to do with my enthusiasm for meeting new people, my hesitation for becoming too close, my loss of desire for shopping, et cetera, et cetera. I guess the whole 2012 was a prep for my living in Australia, and it's all up to me to make it worth it.

As always, I am grateful for all the fortunate encounters I've had this year, for all the inspirations, encouragement, and genuine kindness they have bestowed upon me. Things happen for a reason, and as we say it, "Even a brush of sleeves (of kimono) is a karma from another life." I am lucky to have things happened the way and when they happened.
